Focus & Focal Length Blending for Landscapes

Join Rammy Kazemi for advanced techniques for editing landscape photographs. In this class you’ll learn the importance of focus stacking landscape images, how to blend images taken at different focal lengths together to bring the background closer, how to replace the sky with one that is more interesting, how to enhance the colors in the photo, why you should dodge and burn to enhance the lighting in the scene, and some final touches that help to unify the end result. Our Courses Are all Broken Down Into Small Lessons Creating Easy Breaks and Stopping Points
lesson 1: Introduction (free course preview)
The instructor introduces the class and discusses what will be covered in the lessons that follow.
lesson 2: How and Why We Focus Stack
Rammy goes into the field to demonstrate the reasons for why we focus stack.
lesson 3: Preparing Files
Starting in Lightroom Classic, Rammy prepares the source photos and sends them to Photoshop as layers in a single document.
lesson 4: Focal Length Blending
Rammy blends two photos taken at two different focal lengths for dramatic effect.
lesson 5: Sky Replacement
The next step in the process is to replace the sky in the original photo with a more interesting sky.
lesson 6: Color Adjustments
With the blending done it is time for some color adjustments to fine tune the image.
lesson 7: Dodge and Burn
Learn how to use dodging and burning to enhance the lighting in the image.
lesson 8: Final Touches
With all of the adjustments completed it is time to unify the entire image with a photo filter.
lesson 9: Recap
Rammy wraps up the class with a quick recap of what we’ve done so far.

Ramtin (Rammy) Kazemi is an award-winning Landscape photographer based in Canada. He’s also a tour guide with a passion for the wilderness and the outdoors. Ramtin started photography as a hobby. After picking up his first camera, he fell in love with it— especially photographing the outdoors.
